Biography
In the Winter of 2011, after several years of playing the regional circuit, Ryan officially made Clarksville, Tennessee his permanent residence to join the professional acting company of the Roxy Regional Theatre and fill the role of Director of Fundraising and Development.
Ryan began his tenure with the Roxy Regional Theatre as Jinx in Forever Plaid and has gone on to perform in over 30 productions with the company to date. Some of his favorites include, Hedwig (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Chip (On the Town), The Baker (Into the Woods), Cruella DeVille (101 Dalmatians), Riff Raff (The Rocky Horror Show), George (The Wedding Singer), Sir Robin (Spamalot), Actor 2 (Around the World in 80 Days), Ernst (Spring Awakening), and many more. Earlier in his career, Ryan based himself out of New York City and was seen as Hamilton in the New York City premier of Dotty Dot: A New Children's Musical. He also made his rounds on the regional and touring circuits with credits that include Freddy Einsford hill (My Fair Lady), Ryan Evans (Disney's High School Musical), Jack Chesney (Charley's Aunt), Bobby Child (Crazy for You), Matt (The Fantasticks), Billy (Anything Goes), J. Pierpont Finch (How to Succeed in Business...), Lt. Cable (South Pacific) along with numerous others.. He was also seen in the world premiere of Confessions from the Ladies Room, in Cumberland, MD and worked with the West Virginia Public Theatre on their production of Peter Pan. Ryan also took on the Chicago theatre scene staring in the role of Jonas with the Apple Tree Theatre, in their production of The Giver, based off Lois Lowry’s award winning book. Ryan completed his undergraduate studies at Frostburg State University with a BA in Music-Vocal Performance and a BA in Theatre-Acting with a minor in French. Throughout his Frostburg career, he had the privilege to be seen in numerous production on the University Theatre’s Main Stage. Some of his favorite roles include Joe Hardy (Damn Yankees), John Pace-Seavering (The Violet Hour), Robby the Stockfish (Urinetown: The Musical), Jack (Into the Woods), Dick (Dames at Sea), and Orpheus (Eurydice). Ryan made his alumni debut at Frostburg State University as Jesus in the University Theatre’s production of Godspell. He also served as the guest choreographer for the show. |
